A Barnsley mum whose little girl had her wish granted by the Starlight Children’s Foundation decided to give back to the charity by sacrificing her hair in the name of fundraising.
Amy Smith, aged 35, from Athersley South, decided to shave all her hair off to help raise money after her daughter Chloe’s Starlight wish was granted in 2012.
Chloe was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2009 aged just three years old.
She has to use a wheelchair and requires daily physiotherapy, regular hydrotherapy and botox injections in her legs.
Starlight arranged for Chloe, who adores BBC children’s TV channel Cbeebies, to visit the set and meet some of the presenters.
Amy took on the head shave challenge at Doncaster’s Lakeside Village shopping centre, where she works, and raised £278 for Starlight.
She said: “Chloe loved her Starlight wish and I wanted to be able raise some money so we could help Starlight grant other seriously ill children’s wishes. Anyway my hair will soon grow back.”
