A South Yorkshire MP as taken the plight of a Rotherham pensioner to the Chancellor.
Sarah Champion, Labour MP for Rotherham, was contacted by Aileen Trickett, from Thrybergh, who has seen her allowance reduce by more than 12 per cent in the last three years.
She has now written to George Osbourne about the issue and wants to hear from pensioners in a similar situation.
She said: “Times are tough right now, and with the rising cost of utility bills, groceries and rents, it is not right that the Government are taking money away from pensioners.”
n Ms Champion’s office is on 01709 331038.
