A CAMPAIGN to support bereaved armed forces families is being supported by a South Yorkshire MP.
John Healey, Labour MP for Wentworth and Dearne, attended an event at the House of Commons organised by the Royal British Legion to highlight the importance of supporting bereaved forces families. Mr Healey was told about the legion’s campaign for the Government to appoint a Chief Coroner to improve inquests into deaths of service personnel.
Russell Murray, the legion’s county manager for South and West Yorkshire, said: “It was great to see John Healey. We really appreciated his making the time to drop in. The legion is currently celebrating its 90th anniversary year, and our campaigning is as important to us now as it was in 1921.”
Mr Healey said: “The legion does very important welfare work for some of my constituents.”
