A BARNSLEY MP has called for better protection for homes after visiting victims of flooding.
Dan Jarvis, MP for Barnsley Central, spent Sunday afternoon visiting constituents who had been flooded out of their homes after heavy rainfall at the weekend.
He said: “It is heartbreaking for people who have lost valuables, white goods and furniture. For many of them, this is not the first time they have suffered like this and it is time action was taken to enable these residents’ homes to be protected. It is just not right that people have to live like this, in fear every time we get heavy rain.”
Among the places he stopped was Lang Avenue in Lundwood, where residents have had difficulty getting insurance to guard against losses from flooding.
