MORE than 200 of youngsters took the plunge when they took part in a swimming gala to raise money for childrens’ charity Sparks.
Former Sheffield Central MP and sports minister Richard Caborn was among the proud families cheering the children at the Virgin Active fitness club in Heeley - because his grandson George was taking part.
Glen Heidke, Virgin Active national swim manager said: “This was a great opportunity for children to get together and put their swimming lessons into practice.
“It was great to see children raising money for others in need.”
Mr Caborn presented medals to the winners of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly races. George won three gold medals and a silver.
