MP’s plea over tobacco packs

CIGARETTE packaging should be changed to ‘protect children’, a South Yorkshire Labour MP has urged.

Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron is supporting a campaign to put tobacco in plain, standardised packaging.

Mr Barron said: “It’s shocking that despite a ban on tobacco advertising, children are still being lured into a lifetime of addiction because glitzy packaging makes cigarettes look so appealing.

“Introducing plain packs would minimise the dangerous allure of cigarettes and reduce the chances of children starting to smoke.”
