BRITAIN needs a new strategy to build international business links for creative industries, shadow culture minister and South Yorkshire politician Dan Jarvis has urged.

The Labour MP for Barnsley Central made the plea to culture minister Ed Vaizey during a debate in Parliament.

Mr Jarvis said: “Developing economies have enormous untapped potential for our creative industries and the Government has a responsibility to establish and maintain an effective relationship with the creative industries in countries such as India and China.

“The Government must be at the cutting edge of building links with developing economies, many of whom have earmarked the creative industries as an area they can develop international trade.”
