MP in free over 75s passport bid
ROTHERHAM MP Denis MacShane has launched a campaign calling for free passports for over-75s.
Anyone born before September 1929 is eligible for free 10-year passports and Mr MacShane has written to the Prime Minister asking for the scheme to be expanded.
He launched the campaign after being approached by a constituent who was just a few weeks too young to be eligible.
Mr Hobson, of Herringthorpe, said: "It has cost me the best part of 100 to get my new passport. That's a lot of money for many pensioners on low incomes."
Denis MacShane said: "We have free TV licences for the over-75s so I don't see why we can't be equally generous with passports."
