Things got political when an MP paid a visit to a group of award-winning group in Sheffield.
Shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt met the Sheffield Young Advisors team to find out firsthand how they are providing a voice for the city’s youth.
The group is made up of teenagers trained to act as consultants on decisions affecting their generation.
They scooped two awards earlier this year for their work with recruiting staff at the city’s new University Technical College in Shoreham Street in the city centre and the Children’s Safeguarding Board.
Mr Hunt said “The pride the young advisors took in their work was obvious.
“It was heartening to see a youth-proofing model that gives them real power over local decision making.”
