South Yorkshire MP Angela Smith has called on Japan to end commercial whaling.
She spoke out at the launch of the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s report into the industry, which branded it cruel and uneconomical.
The Labour MP for Peni-stone and Stocksbridge said: “I oppose the cruelty of commercial whaling which has no place in the 21st Century.
“I stand beside IFAW in supporting whale watching as the alternative which can benefit coastal communities.”
