SHEFFIELD Brightside and Hillsborough MP David Blunkett is urging community and voluntary groups in the city to bid for cash from a new National Lottery-backed fund.
The Improving Financial Confidence programme is offering grants of up to £1 million for projects in 69 of the most deprived parts of the country including Sheffield - for schemes providing advice and information to help people with financial problems.
He said: “At a time when debt advice has been threatened by government cutbacks, this additional chance to build on existing programmes will be very welcome.”
Applications for funding can be made before Friday, September 16.
Organisations interested in applying should visit www.biglotteryfund.org.uk for information.
