A CAMPAIGN to find community heroes in Sheffield has won the backing of MP David Blunkett.

Bosses at the NHS Walk-in Centre, Broad Lane, are searching for people in the city who go the extra mile for their community.

Nominations are sought in three categories - workplace hero, parent or guardian and young hero for under-18s.

Winners will be announced at the end of January, with each receiving £250 for a charity or community initiative of their choice.

Mr Blunkett, Labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, said: “This is an excellent way of promoting good citizenship.”

Christian Ellwood, centre operations manager, said: “We want to find real community heroes and give them the recognition they deserve.”
