MOVIE hard man Big Joe Egan, who was Mike Tyson’s sparring partner, today proved he’s really a big softy - by giving up his night for a charity fundraiser.
The 6ft 1in Irish boxing legend, who has been in 25 films, including both Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downey Jnr, was asked for a signed copy of his biography.
But instead he will drive from Birmingham to appear in person at the Barnsley charity do for free, in memory of 25-year-old Robert Cooper, who died from a heart condition.
Money will aid the Cardiomyopathy Association, helping affected families.
Joe said: “I didn’t know the young man but I want to help.”
Tickets are £6, including band, pie and peas, with auction and raffle at Barugh Green WMC, Higham Common Road, Barugh Green, February 3, 7.30pm to midnight.
