Members of Edale Mountain Rescue Team responded to 138 call outs in 2015 - two shy of its busiest year ever in 2010.

Their first call of 2016 was to help an injured mountain biker who suffered pelvic injuries after falling off his bike at Hell Bank Plantation, near Beeley.

The alarm was raised on Saturday after the biker fell while descending a track.

East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics were first to arrive at the scene, with mountain rescue team members used to help transfer the injured biker to an ambulance, which took him to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
