YORKSHIRE Water is warning of possible traffic delays as it prepares for the next stage of its £8 million water main refurbishment in Sheffield.
Workmen will be removing old water pipes along a stretch of the A61 Penistone Road in and out of the city.
Work begins today and is due to last for around six weeks.
The company says that, for safety reasons, work will be undertaken in short stretches, managed by two way traffic lights.
Some side streets will also be affected.
Project manager Mike Tunnicliffe said: “We apologise for the inconvenience this work may cause.
“We have tried to carry out this work during the school holidays to minimise disruption and will work as quickly as possible to complete the project.
“This work will ensure Sheffield residents continue to receive great tasting water for years to come.”
