A YOUNG mum allegedly raped by a friend of her ex-husband broke down in tears as she told a jury she woke to find him having sex with her.

The woman, who was aged 24 at the time of the sex assault in 2004, told Sheffield Crown Court she felt ‘dead’ and ‘numb’ after the attack.

The rape was reported to police but the man was never found - then six years later the victim spotted him walking along Hartley Brook Road in Sheffield, prosecutor Rachel Harrison told the court.

Dwayne Mullings, 33, of Hartley Brook Road, Shiregreen, denies rape.

Miss Harrison said the woman first met Mullings, known as ‘Ribsey’, through her husband in 2003.

She met him again in 2004, following the breakdown of her marriage, when he began a relationship with her friend.

The victim’s friend and Mullings split up but the women continued to be friends and on August 7, 2004 went to Donkeyman’s Afro-Caribbean club in Pitsmoor.

The victim said she left at 4.30am and returned to her friend’s house where she was staying the night with her daughter.

She awoke to find a naked man, with a scar from his neck to his stomach, on top of her.

The victim said: “I opened my eyes and there was a face right there in front of my eyes.

“It was blurred at first, then I saw it was Ribsey. I couldn’t breathe and started to push him off. He was having sex with me. He was so strong and I couldn’t move.

“I was pushing because I wanted him off me.

“I asked him what he’d done to my friend and he said he’d had sex with her too.”

“I remember him saying ‘I’ve dreamt of this’.”

In 2010 the woman was in a car with her boyfriend in Hartley Brook Road, when she saw her attacker. She said for three days she didn’t say anything to her boyfriend.

Asked why, she said: “I saw him, I froze, I was in shock, I didn’t want to go through what I went through right at the beginning.

“I wanted to block it out like I have been doing for near seven years.”

Christopher Attwooll, defending Mullings, asked her if she’d been drunk and panicked because she’d taken another man home from the club and had sex with him. She replied ‘no’.

The trial continues.
