MORE sightings of starlings have been reported in South Yorkshire schoolgrounds.
The small increase was included in results from this year’s RSPB Big Schools Birdwatch, where pupils and teachers count birds in their school yards.
Sightings of another species, the song thrush, were down across the county. Both birds are of the highest conservation concern due to massive declines in recent years.
The most commonly spotted bird in South Yorkshire was the house sparrow.
