Travel tickets across South Yorkshire will be available as electronic smartcards from this week.
Tickets that offer unlimited travel on buses, trains and trams – known as TravelMaster 7 and 28 Day fares – will be available in the new formats from Friday.
Passengers will be able to buy the tickets on an electronic, credit-card sized pass, instead of paper tickets, and will not have to buy several for using different modes of transport.
New smartcard kiosks installed across Sheffield, Meadowhall, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster interchanges will also open on Friday.
More tickets will also be made available on smartcards over the next year.
Work to allow tickets to be loaded through various methods, such as through mobile phones, is under way.
David Young, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive deputy interim director general, said: “We are committed to making public transport travel easier and more convenient.”
