A MOTHERS’ Day plea is being made for more people to become foster parents in Sheffield.

There are more than 230 people providing care in their own homes for children but social services need more to join them to reduce the number of youngsters who have to stay in children’s homes.

Coun Jackie Drayton, Labour spokeswoman for children and young people’s services on Sheffield Council, said: “Mothers’ Day is a time when we are reminded about how important the family is.”
