Cash-strapped parents in Sheffield and Rotherham are being urged to turn to NCT Nearly New Sales to buy baby clothes, toys and equipment.

Research by the charity found that one in two new parents bought second-hand clothes or toddler items in the last six months, as the cost of living continues to rise.

More than 200,000 parents visit NCT nearly new sales across the UK.

The Sheffield and Rotherham branch recently donated unsold goods, which had been donated by sellers, to Sheffield-based charities, Young Women’s Housing Project and Baby Basics.

The branch is holding its next nearly new sale at Hillsborough Arena, on Middlewood Road, on Saturday, May 10, from 11am to 1pm.

Kathryn Barker, joint branch coordinator, said: “NCT Nearly New Sales are a simple idea, with so many benefits.

“Some parents sell items they no longer need, others hunt for bargains, and whether you’re buying, selling or both you can be sure you’re helping to support other parents in Sheffield and Rotherham by funding NCT charity’s vital work.

“The sales are open to everyone, not just NCT members, so we hope to see you there.”
