CHARITIES in South Yorkshire are among those in the region to receive a share of £1.3 million in Government funding.

The largest grant, from the Government’s Transition Fund, was made to the Northern Refugee Centre, Sheffield, which supports refugees and asylum seekers. It was given £205,098.

n Barnsley Sport and Activity Forum received £82,328;

n South Yorkshire Centre for Inclusive Living, Doncaster, was given £64,499;

n The High Street Centre, Rotherham, had a £62,725 grant;

n Doncaster YMCA received £62,402;

n £29, 350 was awarded to Sharrow Citizens Advice Bureau, Sheffield.
