Animal welfare officers are investigating after a Sheffield cat ended up hundreds of miles away from home in Edinburgh.

Misty the cat was discovered ‘petrified and frozen to the spot’ in the stairwell of a flat.

The Scottish SPCA is now appealing for information to reunite the lost animal with his owners.

Animal Rescue Officer Steph Grant said: “Misty was absolutely petrified and frozen to the spot.

“He hadn’t moved from the stairwell for two days and we think he may be a house cat who isn’t used to the outside world.

“Misty is microchipped to an address in Sheffield but unfortunately both the numbers registered are no longer in use.

“His owner may have moved to Edinburgh without updating the details on the chip.”

Anyone with information on either animal should contact the SSPCA on 03000 999 999.
