Residents have given a mixed reaction to plans to demolish a Sheffield pub and replace it with seven homes.
A planning application has been submitted to Sheffield Council seeking permission to demolish The Wheel, Plumbley Lane, Mosborough, and replace it with housing.
However, neighbour Katie Burgin, of Baysdale Croft, said: “This will rip the heart out of the community. We are upset to hear the pub will be demolished and replaced by homes.
But Plumbley Lane resident Sian Saxton said: “The Wheel is an eyesore, the proposed dwellings will improve the appearance of the area.”
And Sandra Murray, of Plumbley Hall Road, said: “This pubhas been a blot on the landscape for years.”
Documents supporting the application say there are other pubs nearby and The Wheel is no longer financially viable.
A decision is expected from the council by the end of March.
