A sex offender off the South Yorkshire Police ‘radar’ for 18 months has been found - in London.
Police officers issued an appeal for information on the whereabouts of Peter Whiteley, aged 50, after he breached the conditions of his prison licence by failing to notify the police of his change of address when he left his home in Exchange Street, Doncaster, in June 2013.
Over 60 phone calls were received after his photograph was shown on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme on Monday.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Over 60 calls were received from the public of potential sightings of Whiteley.
“Officers from the Metropolitan Police attended at a location as a result of information received and arrested him.”
