Missing man is found in Belgium

A ROTHERHAM man reported missing from home has been found - in Belgium.

Roger Cockayne, aged 55, was tracked down to Ostend by South Yorkshire Police and has been admitted to a local hospital in the coastal city.

He was reported missing by worried relatives after they last saw him at 6am last Friday, when he left his Greasbrough home.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "He is physically well and is currently staying in a local hospital. His family are making arrangements for him to return to Rotherham."

DIY man burned

A ROVER 200 went up in flames as its owner was working on it on a drive on Woodsetts Road, Gildingwells, Rotherham.

The owner, a man in his 20s, suffered minor burns trying to extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived.

In a separate incident, firefighters were called out to deal with a car fire on the A616 at Deepcar. It had been started deliberately.

Train strikes off

PLANNED strikes on Sheffield to London train services have been called off after discussions between operator East Midlands Trains and drivers' union ASLEF.

Normal services will now run on the dates of the planned industrial action, on the next three Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Car crash fire

A CAR caught fire after it crashed into a wall on Mortimer Road, Penistone.

When firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze they found the vehicle so badly damaged they were unable to determine what make it was. The driver had abandoned the car.

Bus halts traffic

A BROKEN-down bus on Rushby Street, Grimesthorpe, Sheffield, caused traffic problems for motorists last night. Vehicles were backed up to the traffic lights at Firth Park and on Baretta Street and Page Hall Road until the bus was removed.

Cooker ablaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a kitchen blaze in a house in Dronfield Woodhouse after a problem developed with the cooker hood. The fire on Eskdale Close broke out just before 3.30am.

Everyone in the detached house got out unhurt.

Cyclist hurt

A WOMAN suffered minor injuries after being thrown off her bicycle in a collision with a bus on Derek Dooley Way as the bus was travelling out of Sheffield towards The Wicker.

The road was closed for 90 minutes.
