WORK to transform a Sheffield housing estate at a cost of £99 million has been inspected by a Government minister.

Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd visited Shiregreen, where houses have been modernised and the environment upgraded.

Mr Hurd met residents and management from housing association Sanctuary, which runs the former council estate.

Sanctuary’s Shiregreen project director Colleen Eccles said: “It is fantastic that Nick Hurd has shown a personal interest in our work and our creative partnerships with local volunteers, schools and other organisations.”

Mr Hurd’s visit of Shiregreen included a tour of The Hub a community centre located at Hartley Brook Primary School offering a range of support services and activities to residents.
