THEY’RE a hungry, thirsty lot down at the dogs.
Owlerton Greyhound Stadium, due to celebrate the one year anniversary of its new restaurant, has been calculated the past 12 months have seen staff serve over 30,000 meals - more than the average person will eat in a lifetime.
Thirsty customers have drunk 5,140 bottles of wine and supped enough beer to fill 65 bath tubs since the unveiling of the £1.6 million refurbishment last January.
The revamp double the number of covers to 300.
John Gilburn, managing director of Owlerton Stadium, said: “I’m sure over 30,000 meals during the course of 12 months must be something of a Sheffield record.
“In fact I would challenge anybody to prove otherwise and a meal for two in our restaurant is up for grabs for anyone who can!”
