A midnight walk in South Yorkshire attended by 700 participants is expected to raise more than £50,000.
Organisers of the event, to raise cash for Rotherham Hospice, hope to smash last year’s total of £33,000.
This year’s 10-mile event was sponsored by local business adviser Grant Thornton.
Peter Edwards, director at Grant Thornton, said: “The event was once again a great success with more than 700 local people, including a number of businesses, taking part in Rotherham Hospice’s key annual fundraiser.
“As an independent charity, the hospice depends on the support of the local community to help it to raise some of the £4 million required annually to enable it to continue to provide vital services for Rotherham and the surrounding villages.
“The walk is also a great way of raising awareness of the hospice’s work and an opportunity to remember someone who has been affected by terminal illness.”
As part of the pre-walk entertainment,The X Factor star Lucy Spraggan, from Stannington, Sheffield, performed for the walkers.
