Sheffield-based Labour Euro MP Linda McAvan is practising what she preaches in creating opportunities for young people.

Ms McAvan, wife of Sheffield Central Labour MP Paul Blomfield and who represents Yorkshire in the European Parliament, is seeking an apprentice. The successful applicant will be employed full-time for a year at her Wath-upon-Dearne office and attend Dearne Valley College one day a week to work towards an NVQ certificate in business and administration.

She said: “I hope this role will give someone the experience and confidence they need to progress in a number of employment opportunities.”
