UKIP Yorkshire MEP Amjad Bashir has said the British Pakistani community needs to be united in its condemnation of child sexual exploitation.

The Jay report revealed the majority of abusers in Rotherham were of Pakistani heritage.

Mr Bashir, who has a Pakistani background, said: “Like so many in my community I am ashamed. It is vital the British Pakistani community speaks out with one voice.

“We must take responsibility for what is happening among a few of our young men, and we must work with the authorities to end this vile behaviour.”
