A meeting is to be held in Sheffield to discuss proposed changes to the law around khat.

South Yorkshire police and crime commissioner Shaun Wright and city MPs have been invited to the event, organised by the Yemeni Community Association, at the Vestry Hall, Burngreave, next Tuesday, February 18, at 10am.

The Government wants khat – a plant which contains an amphetamine-like stimulant – to be classified as a Class C drug and made illegal.

The stimulant is popular among Yemeni and Somali communities.
