SHEFFIELD Council’s highways maintenance contractor Amey has agreed to hold a meeting with residents to discuss concerns about lack of gritting around Mayfield Valley.
The move follows the problems being raised in The Star – with people in the area claiming that routes had been in ‘lethal condition’.
Residents said they had not seen gritters on some routes since the start of frosty weather, leaving vehicles struggled to drive along steep roads and farm deliveries having problems getting through.
Farm owner Rhiannon Owen said: “An Amey representative has called to arrange a site meeting and gritters have been around local roads. It’s been a fantastic response and we’re really grateful.”
