A SHEFFIELD woman is the proud owner of a one-off medal for being the 2,012th runner to cross the finishing line.
Karen Williamson got her own taste of gold medal glory after completing the Great Yorkshire Run in honour of the Olympics.
To celebrate the success of Yorkshire at London 2012, organisers commissioned the Sheffield Assay Office to produce a custom-made batch of one gold medal, and four silver medals, for runners.
Karen, 36, who lives in Sheffield and was runner number 2,545, got the glittering prize for coming in 2,012th place, while the silver medallists were selected at random from the 6,000 competitors.
The medals are worth £250 each and include a special commemorative hallmark celebrating the year of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
