A couple were left terrified when masked robbers broke in to a post office.
Two men, one carrying a small firearm, made threats and demanded cash from the owners of the Hollings Lane branch in Thrybergh, Rotherham, who also live in the premises, on Saturday morning.
After taking the cash they fled the scene in the couple’s silver Toyota Corolla, which police have been unable to locate.
No-one was injured in the incident but South Yorkshire Police say the couple were left ‘incredibly shaken’ by the ordeal.
Both robbers were wearing grey tracksuits, and both had their faces covered by balaclavas, one black and one red. One of the men was about 6ft tall.
Detective Constable Ellen Speight said: “This was a shocking and violent robbery carried out over a number of hours. We believe the suspects fled in a vehicle belonging to the residents shortly before 9am.
“We are urgently trying to trace this vehicle and would appeal anyone who saw it as it fled the scene to call police immediately.”
Witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
