Four masked men broke into a house, assaulted a family and stole a BMW yesterday afternoon.
The men allegedly forced entry into the house by pretending to have come to check the gas.
They then threatened the residents, a 42-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, before searching the house.
The incident happened on Parklands View, Aston, Rotherham, between 12.15pm and 12.30pm.
The 23-year-old received a facial injury, and the men got away with jewellery and a grey BMW.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Sarah Robinson said: “The residents have been left incredibly distressed by this burglary and we’re working hard to identify those people responsible.
One of the suspects is believed to have spoken with an Irish accent and all the men were wearing dark clothing.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who might have been in the Aston area at lunchtime yesterday that perhaps saw a group of men behaving suspiciously, or anyone that may have seen a grey BMW driving in the area around that time or shortly afterwards.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 449 of November 11.
