MARTIAL artists will compete in a world championship event in Sheffield next month.
Ponds Forge will host the Unified European Open Championships of Martial Arts on Saturday, August 18.
The World Traditional Karate Association GB and The World Kickboxing Association GB have joined forces to stage the championship, which will see all styles and skills displayed.
Up to 600 athletes are expected to compete for the European title and participants from seven to 70 will travel to Sheffield from Italy, France, USA, Canada and Spain.
WTKA director, Master Terry Johnston said: “We wanted to create a tournament that showcases the diversity, beauty and culture of martial arts. We want to make Sheffield home to the largest European martial arts event on the calendar.”
