Market traders are backing a campaign to give disadvantaged youngsters a happy Christmas.
Businesses at Sheffield’s new The Moor Market are throwing their weight behind Hallam FM and Magic AM’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal by opening five donation drop-off points outside stalls.
The 90 traders will be spreading the word to customers in a bid to ensure every child wakes up to a gift under the tree on Christmas Day.
Mick Cull, president of the Market Traders’ Association, said: “Supporting regional and national charities was always a big part of our lives at Castle Market.
“And it was a tradition we knew we wanted to continue now that we have moved to our fantastic new home on The Moor.
“We hope that as many visitors to the new market will also drop off a gift as they shop for their own family’s presents and food supplies on The Moor so that everyone can experience the magic of the festive season.
“It’s a cause we all feel really passionate about.”
Cash For Kids Mission Christmas is hoping to have its biggest year yet with support from 210 businesses. The appeal raised £610,000 worth of gifts last year.
