A REVISED agreement has been signed for a major project to redevelop the shopping area of Barnsley, which was stalled by the recession.
The newly named Marketplace Barnsley scheme will create a new retail centre with Debenhams department store, an Odeon seven-screen cinema, 35 retail and leisure units as well as car parking.
There will also be a new indoor market hall.
The £180m project was drawn up in 2006, including Yorkshire Forward as a partner, but stalled by 2008 because of the economy. YF is to be abolished this year.
