AFTER battling back from a stroke, Sheffield grandmother Angela Waterfield is all set for a different challenge - running her first half marathon.
The 50-year-old, from Parson Cross, is taking part in Sheffield Half Marathon this weekend and raising funds for Asylum Seeker Support Initiative Short Term Sheffield.
Angela, part of the Methodist Church - Parson Cross Initiative, promised to celebrate the year of her landmark birthday by helping others and has raised around £350 for the charity so far.
Angela, who suffered a stroke in 1994 when she was just 32, said: “You can never be sure after something like that how much you’re going to recover, but thankfully I am okay.
“It feels right to celebrate by helping others.”
She is running with son in law, Lee Allen who is raising money for Sheffield Childrens Hospital.
