The sprightly centenarian became a Brownie when she was just eight and was a Brown Owl until the age of 65, although she carried on helping with groups for another 20 years.

She is now a great-grandmother and a treasured member of the Sheffield City Trefoil Guild – guiding for adults.

Anne enjoyed a birthday celebration with family members.

The former haberdashery shop owner said: “I think the secret to a long life is always being on the go.”
