A man has been charged with manslaughter after the death of a 46-year-old man in a bar attack.

Nicholas Bedford, aged 46, died after being allegedly assaulted in the Blue Room Bar in Barnsley in the early hours of November 2.

Jason Derbyshire, 32, of Welland Court in Higham, Barnsley, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with his death.

He remains in police custody and will appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Wednesday 4 November).

Police are continuing to speak to a number of potential witnesses but are still very keen to hear from anyone who saw the assault take place and has yet to contact police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 26 of Monday 2 November.
