BARNSLEY Council’s housing management company Berneslai Homes has been given a new contract.

The agreement is effective until 2016 and, if Berneslai Homes’ maintains current ‘high levels’ of performance, it will be automatically extended until 2021.

The contract was signed by Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesman for development, environment and culture, Mayor, Coun Karen Dyson and the chairman of the Berneslai Homes Board, Suzy Brain England.

Coun Cheetham said: “I am very pleased that, following the option appraisal process, the council, with the overwhelming backing of tenants, decided that Berneslai Homes should continue to manage homes and estates.

“The company has an excellent track record and I am confident that they will continue to deliver excellent services.”
