Detectives have made a fresh appeal for vital witnesses who may have seen a rapist near the scene of a Doncaster sex attack.

It is nearly three months since the horrifying sexual assault on the Roman Ridge, near a Scawsby school, and police are hoping to gather fresh leads from the public.

One man was arrested in connection with the enquiry but he was released without charge.

The 25-year-old woman was seriously sexually assaulted in the early evening of Tuesday, March 22. The attack happened between Stanley Road and Green Lane.

Police are now looking to trace a man and a young girl who were in the area at the time, as well as two men and a woman who were also in the surrounding area, as they may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man and young girl were seen walking down Wensleydale Road towards Richmond Road at approximately 5.55pm.

The man is described as being in his early 30s with short cropped hair and the young girl was around three to four-years-old with light coloured hair. The man was carrying a children’s pink scooter.

The two men and the woman were seen in the field behind Rosedale Primary School at approximately 5.45pm.

“We would like to speak to the people mentioned as they may have been witness to the crime or have information that will aid the investigation,” said a Police spokesman.

Police have issued a photofit of the suspect.
