Man who sold space on his arm raises £1,500

A CASH-strapped former nightclub boss has raised more than £1,500 by flogging space on his arm for a tattoo.

A total of 45 people bid on eBay to decide which image 31-year-old Wesley Metcalfe will have on his arm for life.

A man from Leeds won with a bid of 1,550 - but the dad-of-two Wesley, from Anston, has yet to hear from him.

Bids came in from a gym, a jeweller, a car dealer and a florist, but Wesley knows nothing about the winner.

The wacky stunt got worldwide attention after it was featured in The Star - and it has spawned a host of copycat auctions on eBay.

Wesley said he was slightly disappointed at how much his auction had raised and he was nervous about what the tattoo would be.

He added: "I'm absolutely dying to know what it will be. I'm hoping it will be a work of art but the final decision is with the winner.

"It could say 'Steve's Taxis' and have a phone number.

"About a year ago I went to have a tattoo done but couldn't think of anything I wanted on my body for the rest of my life.

"Selling the space solves that problem.

"My partner Jessica helped talk me out of it the first time, but she doesn't mind now. It's a bit of fun, a bit light hearted. It's caused a few raised eyebrows when I tell people, but you only live once."

His daughters, aged seven and nine, thought it was "interesting" and loved the media attention, he added.

Now Wesley plans to sell more "plots" on his arm through his website armvert.co.uk.
