Police want to trace a man after a couple were racially abused on a train travelling between Sheffield and Nottingham.

Police want to trace a man after a couple were racially abused on a train travelling between Sheffield and Nottingham.

British Transport Police said the incident happened at around 8pm on Sunday, May 22 after a couple boarded a train at Sheffield.

A man also boarded and sat across from them.

He then spent around 45 minutes of the journey racially abusing them before leaving the train at Nottingham.

A CCTV image has been released of a man police believe could hold vital information about the incident.

PC Mark Burgess said: “Abuse of any kind will absolutely not be tolerated on our railways.

“This incident left the victims feeling frightened for their own safety and so I urge anyone with information to get in touch.”
