Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Chesterfield.

At about 9.10pm on Saturday, a 30-year-old man was walking along Rodsley Close with another man when an argument broke out. The victim was punched to the floor and kicked.

The victim suffered a fractured femur during the assault and was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital where he later underwent surgery.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the assault.
