POLICE want to speak to this man after a teenage girl was touched inappropriately on a train through Sheffield.

The man got off at Meadowhall station, and is believed to have boarded a train heading for Lincoln.

Det Con Bob Hunt said: “The 17-year-old victim, from Manchester, was travelling towards Scunthorpe on the 1.20pm Manchester Piccadilly to Cleethorpes service and sat in the window seat of the carriage.

“A man sat next to her after boarding at Manchester, and engaged her in conversation for a short time.

“As the train left Stockport, he indecently touched her. In a bid to escape this appalling assault, she got up and moved seats.

The incident was on Friday, July 29, about 2.30pm.

DC Hunt said: “This was an extremely unpleasant and unwarranted crime, and one that made an innocent young woman feel intimidated and uncomfortable. Although this type of crime is rare on the rail network, we hope the public can us in identifying the man in the excellent CCTV still.”
