Man slashed across face in robbery on Sheffield street

A man was slashed across the face in a robbery in Sheffield.

The 45-year-old was walking along Catherine Street in Burngreave when he was grabbed from behind by a man while a second searched his pockets.

One of the robbers, who struck at 8.05pm, on Saturday, had a knife.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “An unknown man grabbed the 45-year-old from behind while a second unknown man searched his pockets.

“The second man is alleged to have assaulted the 45-year-old with what is believed to be a knife, causing a minor facial injury that required hospital treatment.

“A small amount of cash was taken by the pair.”

One of the men is was black and the other was of mixed race. Both were around 18-years-old.
