A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car overturned and landed on its roof on a South Yorkshire road.

The 47-year-old was a passenger in a blue Vauxhall Corsa which crashed on the A630 Doncaster Road in Hooton Roberts, Rotherham, at 6.50pm on Monday.

South Yorkshire Police said the car, which was travelling towards Rotherham, crashed around half a mile before the junction with Holmes Lane.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.

A 39-year-old man driving the car escaped with minor injuries.
