A MAN has died in the early hours of this morning after a house fire in South Yorkshire.

Fire crews were called out to a small bungalow in Treelands, Gawber, Barnsley, at around 4am.

Police have launched an investigation.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were alerted to a house fire in Gawber, Barnsley, at 4.05am this morning.

“A man, believed to be in his early 50s, has died. Fire investigators and police are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.”

It is reported the property looks like a scene of devastation, with blackened front windows and furniture on the front garden.
